The stitching of Squidius Knittius

The humble Stitched Squid (squidius knittius). This tiny tentacled terror appeared on my knitting needles one lazy Sunday and introduced himself by immediately challenging me to a wrestling match.

How I laughed in his tiny face at the time.

Behold, the Stitched Squid

I realise now my terrible mistake. Too late.

I may have created him for Stitch London’s Natural History Museum Stitch a Squid event on a whim. Little did I know that he and his kind have bigger plans. Finger-wrestling his way to power the Finger-fighting Stitched Squid and his damp brethren will stop at nothing to get their ten tentacles on the reins of power in their quest to take over the world.

"Bow to me, two-armed mortals!"

The Stitched Squid and his baleen bodyguard

I am sorry to have brought such a single-mindedly ambitious creature into existence.

One look into his glassy squid eyes tells it all.

He bides his time until you turn your back unsuspecting...

You can buy the Finger-fighting Stitched Squid knitting pattern on Ravelry.

See an account of the havoc he raised in the Natural History Museum.

If you do attempt to knit one of his kind don’t come running to me with your broken fingers and your tales of his tiny mocking laugh.

I have heard them all before…
